Harmony Girls v0.4 is now very very close to release so I wanted to give an update to everyone about how development went and what I’m likely going to change moving forward. But before I go into that, I’d like to set a release timeline for this update. It looks like things will be coming together in time for a weekend release for v0.4. I’m going to retroactively add a few things into v0.3.5 for the public release, so that may be releasing a few days later. So, let’s talk about the big change I plan on making going forward.

The amount of content in my updates has slowly increased and I’d like to return to smaller but more frequent updates. I used to create about 7-8 animations per update, 8-10 small dialogue events, and no stills or additional content outside of that. My current updates have around double those number of animations, around 15 dialogue and sex scenes, and around 120 still renders. The game has evolved quite a bit, but I’m now feeling the desire to shift back to smaller updates while adding the stills and type of content that make the game what it is today.

I’m not sure why my update scale grew, but it’s caused these new updates to feel like a grand undertaking that leaves all of you dry for many more weeks before a new release. I’m going to aim for around a 5 week development time for each update going forward. That gives me enough time to create updates around the scale I used while adding the new kinds of content in these more recent versions. I could add a week if I’m making a larger change to a game system, such as the money overhaul added in this update. Updates will feel smaller and take less time to finish playing, but they’ll come more frequently. They’ll also have a much heavier focus on one area of the story, as they used to with my earlier updates.
