A Look at the Big Picture

I originally created Harmony Girls with the vision to make a great game which steers away from the traditional visual novel approach to adult games. I never wanted Harmony Girls to be a sprawling game with vast amounts of choices leading to diverging story-lines and endings. My goal is to make a management/simulation game with a story that could engage but also depict real life scenarios and events. I’ve tried to keep the game simple and straightforward while also not being a pure kinetic novel. So far, I feel like I’ve done a good job staying true to the original concept of the game, though it has changed quite a bit from my original vision. My fear was, and continues to be, an extended development with grandiose plans that never gets close to completion. I’ve seen far too many developers get stuck in a cycle developing a game for years, or in some cases the better part of a decade. Harmony Girls will never be that type of game.

I released version 0.1 of Harmony Girls nearly 5 months ago. It was small in scope, containing a single collab event with Claire, the Anal Training events, and most of Lily’s solo actions currently available. Since then I’ve released 5 more public versions of Harmony Girls, expanding content and underlying gameplay significantly. It blows my mind to see how much the game has changed and how much I’ve added in 5 months time. I’m still not happy with some of the gameplay elements and I’ll work to remedy those issues as I find solutions for them. In regards to content, my vision for Harmony Girls has shrunk in some areas and expanded in others. You’ve probably seen that as I’ve transitioned to adding still renders for sex scenes while retaining character portraits for conversations. As development continues on Harmony Girls, so will the vision I have for the game. Which brings me to current development on the game.

Harmony Girls is probably near the halfway point in its development through the main story. It’s possible, even likely, for me to add content after I release the full completed version of the game. Updates have grown in scale, as has the time to develop them, especially this current update as I take my first break from development for a week and a half vacation (I’ll probably post pictures in the discord if anyone is interested). Still, development is moving forward and the end is creeping closer with every new animation, conversation, and scene. As the game itself has grown, so has the community interested in it’s development.

I want to take a moment to thank everyone who has played a part in the development of Harmony Girls. Thank you to all of my supporters, who have showed unbelievable interest in seeing this game completed to the end. Thanks to Nakith, my supportive wife, who has weighed in heavily on development and shared in my excitement for the game. Thanks to everyone who has provided feedback, whether that be ratings or discussions and ideas about content for the game. And thanks to everyone who has simply downloaded and enjoyed the game! Harmony Girls has been seen by over a quarter of a million people, and enjoyed by nearly 100,000! That’s a baffling number of people, something my mind can’t even comprehend.

Thank you for joining me while I talked about the past, present, and future of the game. I have so much more I could say, including the long journey I had with the game before the first release, but I’ll spare you that wall of text for another time. Until then, thanks for reading, enjoying Harmony Girls, and being a part of this small but blossoming community!
